ISDP Specialist (SOC Analyst)

Hello I am Dan. I am currently living in the United Kingdom. I have completed a BSc Computer Systems (Cyber Security) at Nottingham Trent University. Currently working in the 2nd year of work as a ISDP (Information Security and Data Protection) role which is a SOC analyst role.

My interest in cybersecurity has developed out of my recognition of the astonishing scale of the problems that confront our world as a result of its dependence on digital technology. I believe that IT has transformed the lives of millions in the past 2 decades-It has made time-consuming and tedious tasks quick and easy to complete and increased the range of choices for ordinary people in an unimaginable way: in their financial management, their entertainment, travel etc.Many of the things we take for granted in our lives would be impossible without the complex digital systems that support them yet there is a serious negative element in our new dependency.The complexities of such systems make them very vulnerable to unscrupulous people who can use their expertise to defraud people of their money and to commit other forms of crime.I am keen to find out whether the disasters could have been prevented with more highly developed cybersecurity systems.

I aim to develop all my programming skills to better myself, currently experienced with KQL and the interactions with Microsoft Azure/Sentinel and Microsoft Defender. I am experienced in writing information security portfolios (risk assessments etc.). I am currently aiming to improve my technological knowledge.

I have created this website to act as my online portfolio, it will include some of the most interesting reports I have created, blogs as well as the courses I have completed. I hope this website makes people aware of the importance of cyber security.
